A story of loss and human connection following the parallel lives of a Mexican seamstress and a Lithuanian butcher, as they navigate the immigrant experience in Los Angeles.

SOLIDARITY began as a short film at Santa Monica College. Against all odds, the short went on to win numerous awards and screen at top-tier film festivals including Cannes, BAFTA, and Clermont-Ferrand.

From those humble beginnings, it grew into a full-length feature film.

After completing the AFI Directing Program, writer/director Dustin Brown began adapting the short into a feature. That sparked a nearly decade-long journey epitomized by filmmaker Marc Duplass’ SXSW keynote: “The cavalry is not coming.” No big studio. No safety net. Just a deep belief in this story, and the perseverance to make it happen.

When COVID brought the industry to a standstill, we pressed forward. Through a combination of self-financing and early support from an angel investor, we shot the first part of the film in June 2021, with enough to cut together a trailer.

OUR JOURNEY

PRODUCTION & POST

That trailer caught the attention of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, who joined the project as an Executive Producer. His support and creative involvement helped carry the film through production over the next two years.

Starring acclaimed Mexican actress Elpidia Carrillo (Predator, Blue Beetle) and Lithuanian actor Mantas Valantiejus – SOLIDARITY is currently in post-production. The film is picture-locked, and we just finished color grading thanks to winning the Film Independent Picture Shop Feature Film Grant. All that’s left is to finish the score and sound.

The score is currently being composed by Rob Simonsen (The Whale, Foxcatcher, Deadpool & Wolverine) and Taylor Lipari-Hassett.

We are seeking finishing funds to cover the sound design/mix and score recording costs, to fully realize the film’s potential and ensure it has the impact we know it can.

If you’re reading this, you’re one of the people we believe will connect with this journey—either because you’ve supported our work before, share our values, or see the power of art to drive change.

Thank you for being a part of this story.

In a time of deep division, SOLIDARITY tells a story of hope and unity between two immigrants from different backgrounds — a Mexican seamstress and a Lithuanian butcher. The film explores the stark realities faced by immigrant laborers, essential workers who sustain society while being denied its basic protections.

Crafted by a diverse filmmaking team, SOLIDARITY is groundbreaking in its cross-cultural vision and resonates with deep compassion. It’s a call to conscience that transcends politics and speaks to our shared humanity.

Art changes hearts. Stories shift culture. SOLIDARITY exists to do both.
